Sun Transit Period Winter 2014
February 21, 2014, Kuujjuaq, (Québec) - The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) would like to remind Nunavimmiut that we are nearing the sun-transit period for the winter 2014. From February 21 to March 7, in the Eastern Time zone, short and periodic losses of service may be observed between 2:22 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on a daily basis.
Twice a year, the sun transit period affects northern satellite communications. Long distance telephone services as well as internet and television services are vulnerable to temporary failures due to radio-frequency noise that will affect the entire Nunavik region.
Anyone who intends to organize a teleconference, videoconference or other activity that relies on telecommunications should take this information into consideration in their planning.
