January 29, 2018 – Kuujjuaq, Québec – Chairperson of the Kativik Regional Government (KRG), Jennifer Munick, KRG Executive Committee member and Mayor of the Northern Village of Kuujjuaq, Tunu Napartuk, and President of the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau (KMHB), Sammy Duncan, met in Kuujjuaq yesterday afternoon with the Minister responsible for Consumer Protection and for Housing, Lise Thériault, the Minister responsible for Native Affairs, Geoffrey Kelley, and the MNA for Ungava, Jean Boucher. Housing issues were discussed, including mainly the Home Ownership and Renovation Program.

On January 25, 2018, KRG Chairperson Jennifer Munick, Executive Committee member Tunu Napartuk, and Director General Michael Gordon welcomed newly elected Makivik President Charlie Watt at the KRG main office for an introductory meeting. The KRG representatives took this opportunity to discuss some common issues and to congratulate Mr. Watt on his new role.

Kuujjuaq, Québec, January 23, 2018 ─ Further to the substantial progress made by the Isuarsivik Treatment Centre planning for the construction and operation of a new regional recovery centre, and in related talks with the federal and provincial governments, the Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is announcing a $1-million contribution towards infrastructure costs. The KRG will provide this funding over a three-year period, specifically $350,000 in 2018 and 2019, and $300,000 in 2020.

RLDD Procurement, Financing and Business Expansion Workshop

On December 5 and 6, the KRG Regional and Local Development Department held a workshop on the procurement process of the Government of Canada in Kuujjuaq. During this event, procurement strategies were explained to Nunavik enterprises, from the supplier registration through the bid deposit. The participants were also informed about federal innovation programs and financing services available for aboriginal businesses.

RLDD Ivujivik Think Tank

On January 16 and 17, 2018, KRG Regional and Local Development Department will hold a Think Tank workshop on the Ivujivik Commercial Social Economy Project. For the occasion, Nunavik and Ivujivik business, social, and governmental participants will identify new commercial opportunities for Ivujivik.
