Information Release: Video on Preparation and Safety in Nunavik National Parks

Created in 2004, parc national des Pingualuit became the first national park in Québec situated north of the 55th parallel. Parc national Kuururjuaq was added to this network in 2009. Two more park projects are in the process of being developed. In this context, more and more visitors are choosing to live first-hand the unique cultural-discovery opportunities offered by these vast expanses. The Kativik Regional Government has the mandate to co-manage the protected territories with local communities, and the Nunavik Parks team has a responsibility to assist visitors with the planning of their excursions and to oversee their safety. For this purpose, a short video has been produced. The message is simple: In isolated areas with unpredictable weather conditions, visitors must be well prepared and fully understand the risks associated with the northern environment in order to achieve a truly unforgettable experience. Enjoy your discoveries!
