Reporting to the Recreation Department Director, the Regional Recreation Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing regional programs and activities in the fields of Arts and Culture.  The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new and existing artistic and cultural local and regional programs;
  • Assess equipment and infrastructure requirements for cultural programs in the village with the Local Recreation Coordinator;
  • Act as a liaison between Recreation Department and the Local Recreation Coordinators for cultural and artistic projects;
  • Work in close collaboration with all Recreation department staff in developing and implementing programs and activities;
  • Assist in preparation of local, regional, provincial, national, and internationals events as required;
  • Work with Northern Villages Recreation Departments, Youth House Coordinators, Recreation and Youth Committees, schools and any other entities to synchronize and publicize local and regional cultural activities;
  • Assist in obtaining necessary funding for local and regional cultural programs and activities;
  • Produce any necessary statistics and reports required for programs and activities;
  • Work within the Cirque du Monde Program on:
  • Developing schedules for visits to the communities;
  • Arranging logistics for all travel within the program;
  • Following up with participants on the progression of their skills;
  • Assist in monitoring youth behavior at school and in the community;
  • Coordinate training programs for local trainers and  volunteers;
  • Participate in preparation of participants prior to regional events;
  • Perform any other tasks as required by the Director.


The selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • University degree in Recreation or a related field, relevant work experience in recreational activities will also be considered;
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Communicate verbally and in writing in two (2) of the following languages; English and French and Inuttitut;
  • Dynamic and Organized;
  • Demonstrated autonomy and initiative.


Place of work:          




$33 930 to $57 115 (Class 7)
