Transportation Subsidy Program
The Transportation Subsidy Program helps Nunavimmiut pay for the very high cost of transporting items to Nunavik. The first component of the Program targets furniture and household appliances. Eligible items include refrigerators, kitchen stoves, beds, as well as kitchen tables and chairs. For the shipping of eligible items, applicants receive $250 up to a maximum of $750 annually. Furniture and household appliances
A second component of the Transportation Subsidy Program is directed to the cost of transporting vehicles and equipment intended for hunting, fishing, trapping and gathering activities, including snowmobiles, outboard motors, and all-terrain vehicles. For the shipping of eligible items, applicants receive $500, plus an additional $250 for JBNQA beneficiaries.The vehicle and equipment component of the Transportation Subsidy Program was cancelled on March 31, 2013.
