Regional and Local Development Department

General Information

The Research and Economic Development Department serves as an essential link between the provincial and federal governments and the region’s businesses and social economy enterprises. It is also closely involved in community socio-economic planning. The Department’s activities may be divided into three main sectors: regional development, local development and business development.

The Department’s activities are largely funded by the Québec government through the Agreement concerning Block Funding for the Kativik Regional Government (Sivunirmut Agreement). Some additional funding for special projects is also funded through specific provincial-government departments as well as Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
