Road Paving Project

The KRG received a mandate from the ministère des Transports du Québec (transportation, MTQ) in 2002 to pave 90 km of public roads in the 14 communities. The program’s resource envelope was $35.5 million. All related work was carried out in-house in close co-operation with the Northern villages, using KRG and Northern village equipment. The work represented a major investment in local labour (15 to 20 seasonal workers) and generated significant economic spin-offs for the communities concerned.
