Usijiit Transit Services

Usijiit began in 2004 as a para-transit service for elders and people with disabilities. The service was launched by the KRG, the Kativik Local Development Centre and the Makivik Corporation in each community. Day-to-day operations are managed locally by each Northern village with funding paid through the Agreement concerning Block Funding for the Kativik Regional Government (Sivunirmut Agreement) and oversight provided by the KRG. Currently, the KRG and all the Northern villages are working to expand Usijiit to also include public-transit services.
