Kite-skiing is a wind-powered sport. Riding on skis, individuals use large, colourful kites to sail across ice and snow. Kite-skiing is a relatively new sport and well suited to the Arctic and young people who love the outdoors. The Nunavik Kite-Ski Program has grown to include clubs in Puvirnituq, Inukjuak, Kuujjuaraapik, Ivujivik, Kangiqsujuaq, Salluit, Kangirsuk, and Kangiqsualujjuaq, reaching an estimated 150 participants in these eight communities. In 2017, the Program will expand to include all 14 communities.
